And because the core material can't swell or delaminate at cut edges the way engineered wood can, correct field installation still matters — flashing, clearances, fastening — but the consequences of a small installation miss are far less severe than on a moisture-sensitive substrate.
None of this means LP SmartSide is a bad product for every application.
